Happy Friday!
It has been a very productive and exciting week for the Clawson Vocal Music Program! The biggest announcement is that we have started our Annie rehearsals for the upcoming shows December 8-10th. The students have worked hard all week on the first scene which includes the numbers, "Maybe" and "Hard Knock Life"; we have been able to learn the music, script, and have staged this section of the musical. We will start a new scene next week, so be sure to check the schedule which can be found in the "Annie" section of this website to see if your student is scheduled to rehearse. Rehearsals for "Annie" are in the choir room, room 120 at Clawson High School and run from 3:00pm - 5:00pm Tuesday-Thursday, pit rehearsals are Fridays from 3:00pm-5:00pm. For every rehearsal there is a chance that we will finish early, our students are very busy and I want to respect their time as much as possible, so if we are ahead of schedule I want to grant our students their time and release them early. If any students need to use a telephone to call whoever is picking them up, they may use the telephone in my room or in the high school office. Students are encouraged to take advantage of the benches in front of the high school office as their waiting area; this area is monitored by staff members and security cameras. In the classroom at the middle school level, we are continuing our rehearsing of music for the upcoming concert (Dec. 15) and have also started a composition project where the students in small groups take a well-known song and figures out ways to enhance the music by adding sounds and other music to it. At the high school level, we are finishing up voting for choir officers, that voting link can be found on the homepage of this website, that will be posted by noon today. We are also going to audition for the two solo roles in "The First Breath of Winter" today in class today. It has been an action-packed week at CMS/CHS, as always if you have any questions please feel free to contact me! -Mr. Essler
